Surat: One person was arrested and another yet to be nabbed by the police on the charges of alleged provocation with intent to cause riot in the city over release of movie ‘Padmaavat’ on Tuesday.
At least 54 people have been so far arrested by the police in five cases of unlawful assembly registered in the city. Police are taking strict action against office-bearers of all those organizations which were involved in violence.
When a producer in India made a film with the name Padmavati, which was being opposed by the entire Hindu community, then the name of the film was changed to Padmavat, it was also completely opposed, for this Hitesh Vishwakarma was arrested by the police. When he was arrested, he had taken a pledge that he will not allow the film Padmaavat to be shown in Gujarat and had given the slogan that the cinema hall in which the film Padmaavat will be shown will be burnt and after holding a press conference in the Circuit House of Surat, petrol and by narrating Ganga Jal and Patthar in front of the full media, it was said that the cinema hall in which the film will be shown will be given a full welcome, and it got a huge turnout and the film Padmavat was not shown in Gujarat.
